helps Rochester into playoffs: Senior
shortstop Jena Robertson, a Nathan Hale graduate, has helped the
University of Rochester,NY earn its first NCAA Division III playoff bid
its 10-year history.
Robertson is hitting .362 (34-of-94), with 21 runs scored, six doubles,
one triple, four home runs, and 12 RBIs. She leads the team in stolen
bases with 12 (in 12 tries) and has pitched in nine games (4-3 record,
2.83 ERA).
The top-seeded Yellowjackets (26-5) will play at 4 p.m. Thursday against
the winner of a 10 am game between SUNY Plattsburgh (31-11) and Keuka
College (24-4) in the regional at Cortland, NY.

Robertson
earns All-Region: Five players from the
University of Rochester, including senior shortstop Jena Robertson from
Hale High School, have earned All-Northeast Region honors in balloting
by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
This is the fourth All-Region honor for Robertson, who was named to the
second team. She is second on the team with a .362 batting average
(34-of-94). Robertson also has 21 runs, six doubles, one triple, four
home runs and 12 RBIs.
She is 12-for-12 on steals and pitched in nine games with a 4-3 record,
one complete game, and 30 strikeouts in 34.2 innings.

Hale alum earns honors

University
of Rochester junior Jena Robertson,
Class of '03, has been named the hitter of the week in the Liberty
League and the University Athletic Association. Robertson, an
alumnus of Hale High School, has also been chosen as the ECAC Upstate New
York Co-Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
Over a
six-game stretch, Robertson hit .545 (12 of 22). She had five doubles and
three home runs among her 12 base hits. She had 26 total bases and a
slugging pct. of 1.182. She scored 10 runs, drew five walks,and was
6-of-6 on stolen bases. She was flawless in the field, handling 27
chances without an error (10 putouts, 17 assists). |

Jena
Robertson Earns All-Region Softball Honors
University of Rochester
Freshman Jena Robertson has earned All-Region
honors in softball from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Robertson was named to the 2004 Louisville Slugger All-Northeast Region
Second Team.
She was instrumental in
helping Rochester to a single-season victory record. The Yellowjackets
finished 17-20 in 2004, breaking the mark of 14 wins set in 1999, the
program's second year.
Robertson (Tulsa, OK/Tulsa Hale) hit .342 (39 of 114). She had nine
doubles, one triple, one home run, drove in 13 runs, and scored 14.

She drew four walks and had a team-high eight sacrifices. She had 64
putouts and a team-high 88 assists as the everyday shortstop. She was one
of only two players to start all 37 games.
Earlier
this season Robertson reaped honors from Rochester's two conferences - the
Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association and the University Athletic
Association. She was a Second Team pick in both leagues as the shortstop. |
